I agree 100%! This bill can change A LOT but yet the Government wants to hold it off? That makes no sense to me. It has been almost a month and no one has figured out how to fix this leaking problem. Shows me how hard the oil companies are working for our nation. It also doesn't help that the oil companies lied about how much was leaking into the ocean in the first place. Now there is millions of gallons of oil just leaking into our oceans, we are proving to be not so green friendly! It is good that hopefully by 2020 our carbon emissions will be cut by 17%, but does it really have to wait that long? In the next ten years MANY things can happen and that can all change. So what do you say Mr. Obama, can we speed this up a bit??

Palin, You Idiot!

First of all, Sarah Palin works my nerves. On Friday Palin gave a speech in front of a anti-abortion group stating that she "understood how some women might consider abortion," because of her personal experiences being a mother of a child with Down syndrome and the parent of an unwed teen mother. But then she says abortion is morally wrong, and that women should carry a fetus to term. No offense to her or her family, but there hasn't been a traumatic experience that would lead up to an abortion. Her child was conceived with love, so having an abortion would just be ludacris; and Palin's daughter had sexual intercourse because SHE WANTED TO, which means that she was ready to be an adult and take care of a child. Both cases wouldn't involve abortion in my eyes. If it makes me unmoral to have an abortion because a cousin, uncle, or crazed man raped me, then so be it. I rather live with the fact that I'm "unmoral," than have a child that was conceived for all the wrong reasons. Palin also stated that President Obama was "the most pro-abortion president ever to occupy the White House," and that his health care bill would fund abortions. Turns out, she was wrong (of course) and that federal dollars would not pay for elective abortions. I am not to sure what President Obama's view is on abortion, but I'm pretty sure it would be a smart idea, especially for potential presidential canidate, to double check what you are even talking about. Mama grizzlie my ass.

All Immigrants Should Move To Arizona!

I completely agree! Obviously citizens aren't agreeing with how harsh the bill is, and how Arizona is going about immigration. Say some foreigners come to the US to visit and they get pulled over because they look different, how does that make us look? Makes us look shady to me! On top of that many cops are already crooked and they would use this law in there advantage especially if they're for the law or racist! It would be a terrible thing if this particular law spread through out the states, because it is almost embarrassing how they chose to deal with the immigration. I hope Arizona smartens up and ratifies the law in a way that is more civil to the immigrants.

Long-Awaited Bill on Climate Change

Senator John Kerry proposed a bill stating that by 2020 our carbon emissions will be cut by 17%, which can make a tremendous difference. The bill also includes that it would calm down the offshore oil-drilling, which could start alot of controversey with the oil drillers in the Gulf of Mexico, for example. States are now allowed to veto the bill only if they can prove it poses as a risk. Since Obama had made plans cutting back on the drilling restrictions, he backs up Mr. Kerry the whole way through. As stated by Mr. Obama, "The challenges we face - underscored by the immense tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico - are reason to redouble our efforts to reform our nation's energy policies." I think this bill needs to be one of the first in line, besides the Immigration law. This bill can put polluters accountable for there actions in dirting our country, could possibly create many jobs for the next generations, end America's addiction to foreign oil, and overall keep our planet healthier. Since there is an election coming up in the year and the Immigration law is at the top of the agenda, the luck for this bill to be looked at and maybe even passed, is very rare. I feel that if we do not look at this bill soon then another oil spill could happen, therefore wasting oil, time, money, and ruining more ocean life. Also making big factories pay for excessive carbon emissions is a good thing; they should definitely be paying for the damage done to the o-zone layer. Cutting back on carbon emissions and offshore drilling for the US is like trying to stop smoking tobacco- its going to be a long hard fight; but if we stick with it, our planet can be ten times better and cleaner not just for us, but for our children's children.

Another Typical Justice

The article was written by Walter Shapiro; who was a senior writer for Time, he served as a speech writer for the Carter Administration, and was a political writer for Newsweek- just to name a few. He argues that people that are selected for the Supreme Court shouldn't be judged based on what they have accomplished in life. Shapiro states that "...a long line of activist presidents – both Democrats and Republicans – have altered the original intent of the Framers so that a degree from an Eastern elitist law school is now almost a constitutional necessity." I believe his intended audience is everyone; he wants to show people that nomination of Justices is more focused on what law school you atteneded, rather than genuine morals. President Obama nominated Elena Kagan to be our next Supreme Court Justice, which is great and all, except for the fact that she is just like all the other justices! If Kagan is confirmed for the court, then all nine justices will have either graduated from Harvard Law or Yale. Yes, it's a good thing that our justices have a law degree, but that shouldn't be the main focus on choosing a nominee.
